About Us

Nicholas Fairbanks
Nicholas Fairbanks is a passionate and accomplished violinist who began playing at the age of 6 in his hometown of Bellingen. Under the mentorship of Amber Davies (Sydney Symphony Orchestra), he developed a strong foundation in classical music and went on to become concertmaster of both the Bellingen Youth Orchestra and the Bellingen String Sinfonia. During this time, he also performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the Australian Haydn String Ensemble.He was selected for the Australian Chamber Orchestra Academy in both 2021 and 2022, further honing his performance skills. Now based in Sydney, Nicholas is studying under Dr. Evgeny Sorkin at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.In 2025, he returned to Bellingen to perform Vieuxtemps’ Violin Concerto No. 5 with the Coffs Harbour City Orchestra — a highlight of his growing solo career. With Opus Duo, Nicholas brings warmth, precision, and a deep love of music to every performance, sharing moments of beauty and connection with audiences.

Dashel Eck
Dashel Eck began learning violin at age six with renowned Suzuki method teacher Yasuki Nakamura AM, then continued his studies with Masaki Nakamura. During this time, he began singing in choirs and later pursued solo singing, which he continues to this day, alongside his current role as a member of the St Paul’s College Choir.During high school, Dashel had the opportunity to perform solo works such as the second movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra and the third movement of Bruch’s Violin Concerto at his Year 12 showcase concert in the Sydney Town Hall.In his final year, Dashel toured Italy with his school’s music program, performing one of Vivaldi’s La Stravaganza concertos. This experience deepened his appreciation for music’s ability to connect people across cultures.He is now studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the guidance of Timothy Kantor and Associate Professor Goetz Richter, continuing to develop his skills and musical expression. With Opus Duo, Dashel enjoys sharing music that brings comfort and joy, especially for older audiences, creating meaningful moments through duet performances.
